Border Paintings: Hidden talents brought to light!

Making paintings for the mural border and for the Paintings of the Trail Exhibit at Fowler Library have given many community members a chance to use, and sometimes to discover, their creative abilities. One contributor with an unusual talent is Bill Crosby our local sign painter. Billy owns and operates Crosby Design in the Bradford Mill building. He has been lettering the titles of the border paintings free-hand with a single brush!

As mentioned in our previous post, we started gluing the border paintings to the panels. Some of the pictures were glued on before Billy had a chance to paint the lettering. Now he will paint the script directly onto the mural!

Over 100 paintings were created during workshops, paint-alongs, shared studio time, and with take-home art kits. 36 will be on the mural and the rest will be in the Paintings of the Trail Exhibit at Fowler Library, opening May 20th, during Spring into West Concord. Artists range in age from 8 to 91!

Paintings inspired by Jon Turner’s photograph of a Bobcat, made at the Art for All studio, and with take-home art kits.

Paintings of a Mallard, made during a workshop at the Council on Aging, from a photograph by Steve Forman.

Here are a few of the many other paintings of landscapes and animals!

The Paintings of the Trail exhibit will be up through June, and the paintings on the border will be up for many years!
