Murals
Since 2019, Art for All has designed and produced 8 public murals which have become fundamental to West Concord’s reputation as a friendly, welcoming and creative center of commerce and arts. Each mural conveys a local narrative, some historical and some fanciful. The process of making the murals has been part of the community building, with some made by 100 or more people.
MinuteMan in Wonderland 2025
A Community Painting
Minuteman in Wonderland is a 4×8 foot collaborative painting that blends Concord’s revolutionary past with whimsical, contemporary imagery. Artist Zannah Noe began the piece from a small drawing by Mike Sprague. She led several workshops at Art for All in which participants traced and began painting the image onto the large canvas. Six Art for All artists completed the painting, which is currently on display at Fowler Library in West Concord.
Bruce Freeman Rail Trail Mural 2023
Art for All created a 24-foot mural that maps the 12-mile-long Bruce Freeman Rail Trail (BFRT) from Framingham to Lowell. Mike Sprague was the lead artist, with another 80 people including artists, photographers and community members, participating in making the mural. It is attached to the back wall of 40 Beharrell Street which faces the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail near the bridge over Nashoba Brook. The unveiling to the public took place on May 20th as part of the “Spring into West Concord” celebration and coincided with the opening of AfA’s Fowler Library art exhibit: Paintings from the Trail.
Open Table Mural 2022
Open Table commissioned Art for All to paint a mural on the side of their distribution center at 33 Main Street in Maynard. Andy Smith designed the mural and led a group of high school students from Concord Carlisle’s Rivers and Revolutions program in painting it. It was moved in 2024 to Open Table’s new building in Maynard.
Garden of Verses 2022
In collaboration with the Fowler Library at 1322 Main Street in West Concord, Art for All made this 12 by 8 foot mural for the Library's exterior wall. Half a dozen artists collaborated on the design. About 100 people of all artistic abilities contributed collaged flowers, plants and insects, and then wrote verses of poetry over the final piece.
Our Local Farms, Past and Present 2021
