Explore the village, store by store and flower by flower!
Collaboratively made art is our way of bringing people together and building a strong community. The murals are one of our methods, another is scavenger hunts for the Village festivals.
During the pandemic spring of 2021, just a few stalwart volunteers were coming to the Art for All studio, and people were still nervous about going into stores. We decided to put together a scavenger hunt with big flowers to cheer people up and get them back into the Village. Many flowers were made during workshops for people with special needs, funded by Three Stones Gallery. About 15 local businesses donated fabulous prizes for the flower scavenger hunt and Fowler Library, as usual, helped us out.
Handing out the 20 flowers was fun, as was picking the winners for the raffle in front of library.
Last year volunteers at Art for All remade and upgraded the flowers with more durable materials, including plastic shapes cut by Billy Crosby and crew at Crosby Design from left over sign making scraps. The local business, Trashology, who turns trash into energy, gave us decorative plastics. Just before the gardening season, members of our local garden club, the Green Thumbs helped with making flowers from the recycled materials.
100 people completed the game to enter the raffle of prizes from 20 local businesses.
This year those durable flowers are back up in new locations. Look for the flowers while making discoveries about the many wonderful stores and cultural organizations in our little village!
You can pick up this game sheet at Fowler Library and many stores. Find all 20 flowers and enter the raffle with prizes from 27 local stores and organizations! The draw will take place on May 20th, Spring into West Concord, right after the unveiling of the mural at 3:00 at 40 Beharrell Street facing the rail trail.
