Nancy’s ART journey 🎨

This week’s blog post is by long time Art for All volunteer/artist Nancy Ames! Nancy has contributed to nearly every public art work, murals, exhibits and village festivals, since our beginning in 2019. She is not a big fan of acrylic paint or painting buildings, but she took on the challenge of painting the town of Chelmsford for the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail mural. Thanks, Nancy!

Being outside painting landscapes with watercolors is one of my absolute favorite things to do in the summer. This painting was done in June, from a photo that I took in Kittery Maine.

I recently discovered that watercolor is also a great medium for painting flowers. I did this one back in June. I think I am getting better at capturing the shapes.

I started taking a Plein Air class this past Thursday up in Rockport. It was a bit of an ordeal as the traffic up was terrible, I had to park far from the Art Association and I brought too much stuff! I lugged it all to where I thought the teacher was, but he was at a different location. I couldn’t walk any further and the view was nice so I just plopped my self down.

The teacher was very nice and let me stay where I was. Once he got around to me he greatly improved the perspective on the painting. I had a hard time with the tiny boats. It is tricky to not get too detailed.  So it’s do over and practice practice practice!

This week, I am determined to not take as much stuff. We will be painting in a park and not the ocean. That’s a bummer, but I’m trusting his plan.

I hope everybody is finding time to paint or do something artsy 👏👏 I’m really enjoying getting together at Art For All on Thurs afternoon eve and painting cards to earn my counterfish money it’s fun making stuff with people it’s a great group!
